Mi-Sa Yang

Violinist of Korean origin, Mi-Sa Yang was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. Mi-Sa was accepted at the Paris Conservatoire in chamber music after having completed her studies with Olivier Charlier and Jean-Jacques Kantorow in the postgraduate ‘Violin Concert Artist’ programme.
Mi-Sa has won awards at various international competitions: 1st Prize at the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for young violinists in 2000, 3rd Prize and Special Jury Prize at the Sendai (Japan) International Music Competition in 2001, and 1st Prize in piano trio at the 55th Maria Canals International Music Competition of Barcelona in 2009.
Since her debut with orchestra at the age of 12 in Japan, she has played with such prestigious orchestras as the Sinfonia Varsovia, Suk Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Century Orchestra Osaka et al. She also gives recitals and participates in international festivals. Her interpretations have earned her great esteem from critics and audiences alike.
In addition, Mi-Sa Yang has always sought to cultivate her talent as a chamber player. In particular, with Adam Laloum and Victor Julien-Laferrière, she founded the Trio Les Esprits and, since 2014, is a member of the Ardeo Quartet. She has performed at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Wiener Konzerthaus, Philharmonie de Paris, Kölner Philharmonie, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Klavier- Festival Ruhr, Folle Journée de Nantes, Folle Journée in Japan, La Roque d’Anthèron, Fêtes musicales en Touraine, Deauville Easter Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele, and Kuhmo (Finland) Chamber Music, among others.
The two CDs by the Trio Les Esprits released by Mirare in 2014 and 2017 were critically acclaimed. Their next one, devoted to Schubert, was released by Sony Music in 2019.
