Church music, Vocal music
Jean-Claude Fasel, choral conductor, sings in the Ensemble Vocal Lausanne and is also assistant to its music directors. In 2009 Michel Corboz entrusted him with the task of presenting Caplet’s Le Miroir de Jésus with Marie-Claude Chappuis, the EVL and the Sine Nomine Quartet. In 2010 he conducted Mozart’s Requiem on tour in the Pays de Loire with the EVL and Sinfonia Varsovia.
He has conducted many different choral groups in the field of oratorio, for which he has a particular affection, including L’Accroche-Chœur, the vocal ensemble of Fribourg (since 1992); Cantabile, the symphonic choir of Neuchâtel (from 1996 to 2008); and the Chœur de l’Université et des Jeunesses Musicales de Fribourg (since 2000). In 2005 he directed the inaugural concert of Lyrica, the Neuchâtel opera chorus.
With L’Accroche-Chœur, with which he has built up a distinguished reputation for both his recordings and his concerts in Switzerland and abroad, he premiered in 2012 Colors of Time, a work commissioned from the jazz pianist Thierry Lang. These numerous experiences have also given him the opportunity to conduct, among others, the Orchestre Symphonique de Bienne, the Ensemble Baroque du Léman, the Ensemble Symphonique du Neuchâtel, the Swiss Baroque Soloists, the Orchestre de Chambre Fribourgeois, and Capriccio Basel.
