The Trio Messiaen was born when three young soloists met in 2014. All graduates of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and prizewinners at prestigious competitions (Jascha Heifetz International Violin Competition, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Conservatory Competition, Rodolfo Lipizer International Violin Competition, Società Umanitaria di MilanoCompetition,GabrielFauréInternational Piano Competition), they combine their musical personalities in the service of common project sealed by a friendship born within the walls of the Conservatoire. The Trio Messiaen was propelled onto the international scene in 2018 when it won First Prize at the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition, by unanimous decision and with the congratulations of the jury, along with five special prizes.
Already acclaimed and distinguished by the media, the Trio has performed at such festivals as La Roque d’Anthéron, Deauville, Bélaye, Póvoa de Varzim, La Folle Journée in Nantes and Tokyo and La Folle Nuit de Grenoble, and has been invited by France Musique to appear in the programme ‘Plaisir du Quatuor’ hosted by Stéphane Goldet. Since the Trio’s debut with the clarinettist Raphaël Sévère, the four musicians have worked together on the repertory of the ‘Messiaen formation’ quartet, of which the famous Quatuor pour la fin du Temps is the masterpiece. The present recording, their first in this formation, is naturally devoted to that work, together with Court Studies from ‘The Tempest’ by Thomas Adès.
